Fuck the Patriarchy, Support the Matriarchy promotes the dismantling of the patriarchy within our society. The patriarchy is defined as a system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it. The patriarchy, both consciously and subconsciously, negatively manifests into the workplace, families, parenting and relationships. The patriarchy is also emotionally and physically harmful to men as it stigmatises connecting to your emotions and seeking help. Patriarchal masculinity is problematic as it rejects feminism and promotes gender inequality, ignorance, hierarchy, exclusion, toxicity and rape culture.
The matriarchy is a system of society or government ruled by a woman or women – an ideal yet uncommon system in this world. At Non Fiction, we believe a matriarchal society would strive for gender equality, sexual liberation, a strong sense of agency and complete bodily autonomy.
Non Fiction is a creative project donating all proceeds to St Kilda Gatehouse that runs the Young Women's Project. The YWP supports young women aged 12-25 years, who are involved in or at risk of sexual exploitation.
The Fuck the Patriarchy, Support the Matriarchy T-shirt is in collaboration with Mexico City based graphic designer Aldonza Mosqueda. Aldonza is passionate about creating the Non Fiction designs as achieving equality for women in Mexico is prevalent and progressing.
The block fit t-shirt, originally designed for women, features a thick weight 100% cotton, a boxy silhouette, an angled sleeve, a crew neckline and direct to garment printing. Versatile, the t-shirt dresses up nicely or can be worn casually.
The straight fit t-shirt showcases a relaxed silhouette and is 100% cotton, however, the fabric is a lighter weight than the block fit. This style also features direct to garment printing. Size up for a baggier fit.
The black Non Fiction logo is printed on the back of all t-shirts, centred up near the neckline.
Talented print creator Cal, from The Printing Farm, recommends to hand wash the design to maintain a vivid DTP.
